SARASOTA COUNTY - A trio of area home builders has won awards for "green" construction from the Florida Green Building Coalition.
Neal Communities was named "Builder of the Year" by the Tallahassee-based coalition for building 210 single-family homes that used environmentally friendly and sustainable methods in a 12-month period -- more than any other builder in the state.
The non-profit coalition also recognized Sarasota building consultant Drew Smith, president of Two Trails Inc., as the top certifying agent in the state. Smith acts as the certifying agent for Neal Homes.
